Columbia City lockdown lifted, but the search continues for wanted man

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (WOWO): Officers in Columbia City have lifted a lockdown, but the search for a man who ran from police is still underway.

Wednesday afternoon, 31-year-old Skyler Roff led police on a chase when they tried serving three warrants on Roff. During the chase, Roff drove his car into a cornfield, then he got out of his car and took off running. Officers tell our partners in news at ABC 21, remnants of a meth lab were found in Roff’s vehicle.

“Right now he is looking at three misdemeanor warrants for driving while suspected, the other two… are actually obstruction and possession of paraphernalia,” said Anthony Hively, Chief of Police in Columbia City.

Officers from multiple police agencies joined in on the search of more than 300 acres near the Columbia City Walmart, in the 400 block West Plaza Drive. As of Wednesday evening, the lockdown for nearby homes and business was lifted, but Roff is currently still at large.
