WASHINGTON, D.C (WOWO): With the U.S. House and Senate passing a federal budget bill it gives a reprieve to the A-10 Thunderbolt, including those flown by Indiana military forces.
The spending plan includes $337 million to keep flying the jet, according to the Military Times. The A-10 is flown by the Indiana Air Guard's, including the122nd Fighter Wing in Fort Wayne.
With the announcement, the transition to the F-16 will be postponed at least another year.
About a dozen A-10s and hundreds of service members from Fort Wayne are deployed in the Middle East with the military's Central Command.
