Coroner Identifies Victim in Fatal US 24 Crash in Huntington County

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, IND. (WOWO)  A Huntington woman killed in a crash involving a semi-truck on US 24 has now been identified by the Huntington County Coroner’s Office.

The crash happened around 9:50 a.m. Monday east of County Road 200 East in Union Township. Investigators say 58-year-old Patricia A. Jackson was driving a Jeep Liberty westbound when she lost control, crossed the median, and entered the eastbound lanes. Her SUV was struck by an oncoming semi tractor-trailer in a T-bone collision, with both vehicles coming to rest in the median.

The driver of the semi, 40-year-old Aaron Amyx of Harrison, Michigan, was not injured. Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene, and the coroner says she died from multiple blunt impact injuries. Her death has been ruled accidental.

Officials believe roadway conditions played a primary role in the crash.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Huntington County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, local police and fire departments, Parkview Huntington Hospital EMS, and the Huntington County Traffic Team. Henline Wrecker Service and Woody’s Towing and Recovery assisted with vehicle removal.
