Evansville Man Forms Group to Prevent Suicides

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ A local support group has been formed in response to recent Vanderburgh County suicides.

WFIE-TV reports that Branden Adams created a Facebook page last month to provide support to people who are contemplating suicide. Adams says The Suicide Sign of Evansville has already helped several residents.

He recently teamed up with a local youth group to hold an event that aimed to bring awareness to the issue. A Christian rap group performed while Adams educated the crowd about the prevalence of suicide in Evansville.

Adams says he hopes to continue to make a difference in his community and ultimately help bring an end to suicide.

In July, the Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office saw six suicides within a 10-day period.
