Federal Court Hears Angola Strip Club Case

CHICAGO, Ill. (WOWO): The future of a proposed strip club in Angola could be determined today in an federal appeals court.

Owners of the Club, Alva and Sandra Butler, are asking the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago to overturn a lower court ruling in January that upheld Angola's rezoning decision to block the adult-oriented nightclub.

In court documents, the Butlers argue the city tightened restrictions to prohibit adult businesses after they purchased the property. They say, the city has violated their civil rights.

In May, the city rejected a $1.5 million settlement with the Butlers to end the case. The Butlers own Showgirl III in Fort Wayne.
