Fort Wayne Man Not Guilty on Rape, Robbery Charges

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A rape and robbery suspect evaded prison in one case, but he's not out of the woods yet in the other.

18 year old Jordan Mathis was accused of raping and robbing a woman during a marijuana deal. Mathis she initiated the sex act, but she says that it was forced rape.

A jury of twelve sided with Mathis on Wednesday, acquitting him of the rape and robbery charges. The Journal-Gazette says friends and family of the woman were stunned and upset in the courtroom.

But, Mathis is still in Allen County Jail because he's facing attempted murder and aggravated battery charges from a shooting in March that nearly killed a 19 year old man. That trial starts in December.
