Fort Wayne Woman Running for State School Superintendent

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): We have a Republican candidate for Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction…and she's from Fort Wayne.

Dawn Wooten has announced that she will seek the Republican nomination for the seat currently held by Democrat Glenda Ritz.

Wooten tells our partners in news at 21Alive that she has the experience needed to take the top Hoosier education post. She's an adjunct faculty member at IPFW, Indiana Tech, and the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne. She also served on the College and Career Readiness Panel in 2014.

She believes the education system in Indiana isn't working effectively and wants to change it.

Wooten is the only other candidate besides Ritz in any party that has announced she's running for state school superintendent.
