Hamilton County Dealing With Heroin Issues Despite Plaudits

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WOWO): Hamilton County has been cited as the 'best place to live' and the 'best place to raise a family' but there is another notable distinction– the county is 9th in the state for the number of heroin overdoses and overdose deaths.

In just the past month alone, 15 people have died from heroin overdoses. It's a serious problem that many say has been swept under the rug.

A non-profit support group called 'Hope Overcoming Heroin', was started because of the lack of addiction treatment facilities in Hamilton County. The group provides referrals and treatment facilities and acts as a support system for hundreds of parents whose children are addicted to heroin, or who have died from heroin overdoses.

Hope Overcoming Heroin has more than 100 parents raising their children's children.
