Indiana Ramping Up State Education Web Pages

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana’s education department is launching new Facebook and Twitter pages, two of which will focus solely on education policy.

One Facebook page will focus on Indiana Department of Education announcements, education opportunities and news articles while another will provide information about education policy and the state Legislature’s rule-making process. Both pages will be mirrored by Twitter feeds that will provide similar content.

State Superintendent Glenda Ritz says social media is a powerful tool and her team plans to use both Facebook and Twitter to send information in real time. She says the Twitter feeds will also include live tweeting of meetings and events.

The pages will be updated every hour and managed by members of the education department’s communications team.
