Indiana Trooper Hospitalized After 2-Vehicle Crash

HAGERSTOWN, Ind. (AP) _ An Indiana State Police cruiser has crashed into a second vehicle and sent a trooper to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said Wednesday that 24-year-old Trooper Kyle West was transported by ambulance to Reid Hospital in Richmond following the Wednesday afternoon collision on State Road 1 just south of Hagerstown.

Sgt. John Bowling says West was responding to a dispatch with his emergency lights and siren activated when he came upon two cars slowing in front of him. Bowling went left of center to pass the vehicles, but the one in front, a pickup truck, turned into his path and West was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision.

Bowling says the other driver wasn’t injured.
