FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): IPFW is changing.  Officials meet in a media lunch to discuss that and other happenings at the local university. 

Topping the list is the switch from a Regional Campus to a multi-system metropolitan university.  The designation, which was approved by the general assembly puts more authority in local.  Chancellor Vicky Carwein says it makes IPFW more flexible and responsive. 

It will allow for doctoral programs, more on-campus housing and responsive and make provide more flexibility and be eligible for some additional funding for programs in science, technology, engineering and math. 

The university's designation became official in July.
