FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): This week patients of Medical Informatics Engineering received a letter in the mail saying their data may have been hacked. Now one patient has filed a suit against the company.

The FBI Cyber Squad is investigating the case, and Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller said Hoosiers should consider freezing their credit if they're part of the breach. Now, according to the Journal Gazette, a patient in Indianapolis has filed paperwork in U.S. District Court in Fort Wayne naming the company as a defendant. James Young alleges that MIE failed to keep his data safe, and did not take reasonable measures to protect their data systems.

The lawsuit is seeking payment of costs taken in the theft and damages for stress and, “annoyance of dealing with all issues.”
