A new bill would require every school in Indiana to display the Ten Commandments in classrooms and libraries.
House Bill 1086, authored by State Rep. Michelle Davis (R-58) and co-authored by Reps. J.D. Prescott, Hunter Smith, and Jake Teshka, says schools must “place a durable poster or framed picture representing the text of the Ten Commandments in each school library and classroom.”
The bill is set to be filed when the Indiana General Assembly meets next week.
Its first reading is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2026, after which it will go to the House Education Committee.
This comes after Gov. Mike Braun and Attorney General Todd Rokita asked a federal court this week to lift an injunction that’s blocking a historical Ten Commandments monument at the Statehouse.
