Ohio’s Kasich “Seriously Considering” GOP Presidential Bid

DETROIT, Mich. (WOWO): Ohio Gov. John Kasich has told business leaders in Detroit that he's “seriously considering'' a race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination but isn't setting a timetable for a decision.

Kasich told a Detroit Economic Club luncheon Monday that he's “going to decide this'' when he's good and ready. He's is in his second term as Ohio governor.

Republican U.S. Sens Marco Rubio of Florida, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Ted Cruz of Texas already have declared their candidacies.

Kasich says he has a strong record fighting military waste as a member of Congress and trying to reform Ohio's welfare system, with an emphasis on those with drug and alcohol abuse problems.

He's scheduled to visit the early primary states of South Carolina and New Hampshire this week.
