INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana schools Superintendent Glenda Ritz isn't expected to formally announce her candidacy for governor until Thursday but a publicly released letter offered a glimpse of her intentions in advance.
The Indy Pride advocacy group released through social media Wednesday a letter from Ritz with a “Glenda RITZ for GOVERNOR 2016'' letterhead and “Candidate for Indiana Governor'' appearing below her signature. Otherwise, the letter doesn't mention the Democrat' is running for governor.
Ritz is expected to formally announce her candidacy Thursday. She declined to discuss her political plans several times this week, including Wednesday at a State Board of Education meeting in West Lafayette.
The letter released by Indy Pride welcomes attendees to next week's Circle City IN Pride Festival in Indianapolis. Indy Pride advocates for the lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender community.
