State Bus Inspection Idles Madison County Buses

ANDERSON, Ind. (WOWO): A random safety check by Indiana State police put 29 school buses out of commission in Madison County.

Many of the buses, operated by Weber Transportation Company, had brake violations and other critical safety issues. Anderson Community School Corporation officials said despite the lack of buses, no students should worry about getting to or from school.

Amanda McCammon, director of student services, says they elected to re-route buses using other independent contractors and some bus drivers doubled up and picked up another route as well.

State police have 20 troopers assigned to inspecting 16,000 school buses across the state.
