Zoo Breaks Attendance Record

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It was a memorable 50th anniversary for the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo.

The Zoo had record attendance this year, bringing in almost 619,000 guests, breaking a record of nearly 615,000 set in 2009. It's not hard to see why: the zoo had the unveiling of a new exhibit featuring stingrays and sharks, as well as the addition of a baby giraffe and baby orangutan.

The Journal Gazette reports that the zoo is the largest tourist attraction in northern Indiana, with 90% of out-of-town visitors telling zoo officials the zoo was their main reason for coming to Fort Wayne.
