1 Dead, 3 Hurt in Osceola Crash after Police Chase

OSCEOLA, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana coroner says one man has died after a car being chased by police crashed into a tree.

St. Joseph County Coroner Randy Magdalinski says the man is believed to have died from blunt force trauma. The man's name hasn't been released. Magdalinski says three other persons injured in the crash early Monday are still recovering with serious injuries.

The chase started about 4 a.m. after a reported theft at an RV factory in Elkhart and traveled for two miles into neighboring St. Joseph County before the crash near the town of Osceola, about 10 miles east of South Bend.

Emergency crews needed nearly an hour to free all four people from the car's wreckage.
