50,000 More Affected by MIE Hack

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The problems a Fort Wayne-based medical data company has been having aren't going away any time soon.

Medical Informatics Engineering has sent out another 50,000 letters to people whose data may have been accessed in a May 26th data breach that is already confirmed to have affected close to 4-million people nationwide.

COO Eric Jones told the News-Sentinel the three-month delay in contacting this latest batch of customers, as opposed to the original notifications sent out on June 2nd, is due to MIE having invalid mailing addresses on-file. The company is offering identity protection and monitoring services to those impacted by the hack.
