Toledo Mosque Arson Suspect in Court Next Week

By Max Resnik

TOLEDO, Ohio – (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – The DeKalb County man charged with setting fire to the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo will be in court next Thursday.

Randy Linn, 52, of St. Joe, is charged with two counts of arson, aggravated burglary and carrying a concealed weapon. Wednesday, Linn, while being held in the Allen County Jail, waived extradition and was transported to Wood County, Ohio. Shortly thereafter, Linn was arraigned on the aforementioned charges.

Thursday, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s office confirmed that Linn has no criminal background.

Much like Wednesday, many of Linn’s neighbors in St. Joe on Thursday expressed shock and surprise at his arrest. One woman described Linn as “a nice guy.” Another said “you wouldn’t have expected it” out of Linn. A third person said about Linn, “maybe a lot of people didn’t know who he was.”

Friday in Toledo, members of the Muslim community will meet for a congressional prayer service at the mosque at 1:30 p.m. They are calling it a show of solidarity and fraternity in the face of an arson attack on their house of worship.

Sunday, a multi-faith prayer service will also be held there at 2 p.m.
