Lucas Oil Founder Posthumously Honored

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO) — Lucas Oil founder Forrest Lucas was posthumously honored with the 2025 Sachem Award by the office of Indiana Gov. Mike Braun this week.

The Sachem Award is the state’s highest honor and presented annually by the governor of Indiana.

It recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to Indiana through character, leadership, and service.

Lucas, who founded Lucas Oil in 1989, played a key role in establishing Indiana as a hub for racing and contributed to the development of the Indianapolis Colts’ stadium.
