Union Pacific Big Boy To Travel Through Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – Railroad enthusiasts will soon have a chance to catch a glimpse of a legendary locomotive in Fort Wayne.

Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014, the world’s largest operating steam locomotive, is making a coast-to-coast journey as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebration.

The train departed Wyoming this week and is scheduled to arrive in Philadelphia on July 4 before returning west.

21 Alive News says Big Boy is expected to arrive in Fort Wayne after 3 p.m. on June 5 for an overnight stop before departing the next morning.

The locomotive will also make another overnight stop in Fort Wayne on its return trip in mid-July.
