STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): An off-duty Fort Wayne firefighter helped pull a man to safety after a crash in Steuben County. Wednesday afternoon, authorities were alerted to a personal injury crash on Bayview Road. 31-year-old Luke Kenwick, of Middlebury, was driving west when he left the road and hit a tree. Two Steuben County men, Larry Bassett and Bryan Sorgen, got to the scene. Sorgen broke a window, and after noticing the temperature rising in the vehicle, both men pulled Kenwick out of the vehicle before it burst into flames. Kenwick was taken to Parkview for injuries. Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
