FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The relationship between the Fort Wayne TinCaps and the San Diego Padres will continue through at least 2016.

Officials announced the extension of the player development contract with the major league team Wednesday afternoon.

The affiliation dates back to 1999, when the franchise was the Wizards. During that span, more than 130 Fort Wayne players have advanced to play for San Diego.
