UPDATE: Police Investigating Fatal Shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne police are investigating a fatal shooting on Fort Wayne's southeast side.

Officers responded to a 911 call around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday afternoon from someone saying they heard about five or six shots fired near Webster and Hawthorn Streets. When they got there, they found a black man unresponsive, lying face down on Hawthorne St. near a gray Chevy Impala. When fire personnel arrived, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers spent time looking for witnesses and learned two males were seen running away from the area, with one running north and one running south. They also found more people who heard the gunshots.

The Northeast Indiana Forensic Center will determine the cause of death of the unidentified man. If you know anything, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
