TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) _ The head of the Republican Party in a northwest Ohio county is suing the state's elections chief, who is also a Republican.
Lucas County Republican Party Chairman Jon Stainbrook has filed a $1 million lawsuit against Secretary of State Jon Husted over a decision last year to remove Stainbrook from the county's board of elections.
He claims in the lawsuit that Husted organized an illegal investigation to justify removing him from the board.
A spokesman from Husted's office declined to comment on the lawsuit.
The Blade newspaper (http://bit.ly/1FbCtwQ ) in Toledo reports that Stainbrook's lawsuit says the committee investigating the board allowed unproven accusations to be heard without sworn witnesses.
Stainbrook also says his reputation was damaged by the investigation.
