Columbia City Chemical Fire Forces Nearby Residents to Evacuate Homes

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (WOWO): Late Friday night, emergency officials ordered residents in Southwest Columbia City to evacuate their homes due to a major chemical fire at C&R Plating on Factory Road. 

As crews battled the factory fire, emergency management officials established a temporary shelter for evacuees at the First Church of God on W. Depoy Drive.

The scene was cleared early Saturday morning. At this time, no injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is still unknown.
