Auburn Man Gets no Additional Jail Time for Burying Man

ALBION, Ind. (AP) _ A 47-year-old northern Indiana man has been sentenced for tying up and burying another man in a hole, but he won't serve any additional jail time.

Phillip “Pat'' Longsworth of Auburn was sentenced Thursday to 180 days each of community corrections and probation. He previously pleaded guilty to felony criminal confinement.

The judge is allowing Longsworth to first begin the probationary period before starting a more restrictive community corrections program this fall. It's likely he won't have to complete the full 180-day community corrections sentence if he meets all of the program guidelines.

Last August, authorities says Longsworth and another Auburn man used duct tape to tie up a Cromwell man and partially buried him in a hole.
