State Board Votes to Shut Down Troubled Fort Wayne Bar

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): The troubled Sports and Spirits bar in Fort Wayne will be no more soon.

The Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission voted unanimously Tuesday to shut down the bar that has been a haven for criminal activity in recent years.

The panel rejected a hearing judge's recommendation to renew the license for the troubled East Wayne Street bar.

There have been multiple shootings, arrests, fights, and drug seizures at the bar in recent years.

The Journal-Gazette says the attorney for the bar owners is exploring his legal options, including a possible lawsuit. It's unclear when the bar will need to be closed.
