$1 million bond for multiple molest suspect

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — A northwest Indiana judge set bond at $1 million for a man accused of molesting four boys repeatedly over several years.

Porter Circuit Court was nearly filled with Christopher Truman’s alleged victims, their families and supporters during a hearing Thursday. Judge Mary Harper entered a preliminary plea of not guilty on Truman’s behalf.

The 38-year-old Portage man appeared via videoconferencing and said little as Harper read six counts of child molesting and three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.

One 13-year-old boy claimed Truman had performed sex acts on him more than 100 times since he was 7 years old.

Defense attorney Larry Rogers says he’ll seek to have Truman’s bond reduced.

Harper scheduled Truman’s trial for Feb. 4.
