Ivy Tech-Bloomington Offers Stand-Up Comedy Class

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) _ Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington is offering a comedy class that will allow students to present a routine during an upcoming comedy festival.

Comedian Mat Alano-Martin will teach Introduction to Stand-Up Comedy at the Bloomington campus from May 7 to May 28. The class will meet four days per week from 6 to 8 p.m., and registration is $49.

Alano-Martin travels throughout the Midwest as a full-time touring comedian. He tells The Herald Times that the class will be an academic look at stand-up comedy and will explore the history as well as the mechanics and theory of the art.

Those who complete the class will be able to present a comedy routine during a matinee session of the Limestone Comedy Festival in Bloomington in June.
