INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Gov. Mike Pence has named state Rep. Suzanne Crouch as Indiana's new state auditor.
Pence named the Evansville Republican to the statewide post Monday weeks after his previous pick, Dwayne Sawyer, announced he was stepping down after just four months on the job.
Crouch will serve out the remainder of former Auditor Tim Berry's term.
After Berry vacated the job to run the Indiana Republican Party, the governor picked Sawyer in August to complete Berry's term. But the Brownsburg Republican announced last month he would resign from the post for undisclosed personal reasons. Sawyer's last day was Sunday.
Crouch served two terms as the Vanderburgh County auditor and was president of the Vanderburgh County Board of Commissioners before being elected to the General Assembly in 2005.
