SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP): Two more Indiana city councils have voted to oppose efforts to write Indiana's ban on gay marriage into the state constitution.
 
       The South Bend and Muncie councils both voted Monday night to adopt resolutions against the proposed constitutional amendment being considered by state legislators.
 
       The South Bend Tribune reports Republican Councilman Dave Varner voted against the resolution, saying he believed voters should be allowed to decide the issue in a statewide referendum.
 
       The Star Press reports Muncie Democratic Councilman Doug Marshall says he sponsored the resolution because he wants the city to be known as a welcoming place.
 
       City councils in Indianapolis and Evansville and a bipartisan group of mayors have also spoken out against the proposed amendment.
