Religious Freedom Bill Passes in Indiana House

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): A proposed bill that would protect business owners who refuse service for same-sex couples has paused in the Indiana House.

The measure passed 63-31 this afternoon. Similar legislation passed in the house last month.

Supporters say it protects religious freedom, opponents say it promotes discrimination against gays and lesbians.

It now heads to committee to work out differences between the House and Senate. The finalized version could be approved by the House and Senate and sent to the governor.
