NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) – The signing of legislation intended to clarify Indiana's religious objections law isn't stopping some communities from criticizing the statute.

New Albany City Councilman John Gonder says his resolution calling for the legislation to be repealed will be considered Monday night by the southern Indiana city's council.

Gonder tells the News and Tribune (http://bit.ly/1GeZepI ) the law frightened and offended a lot of people “and it colors Indiana as an intolerant place.''

New Albany Mayor Jeff Gahan also has called for the law to be changed. He says elected officials have a duty “to create an environment that welcomes everyone and discriminates against no one.''

Pence on Thursday signed a bill designed to clarify what some officials said were misconceptions about the law.
