Indiana Agency Files Complaint against South Bend Abortion clinic

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP): The Indiana Department of Health has filed another complaint against the only abortion clinic in South Bend due to poor inspection results.

A June 3 complaint that prompted the inspection focuses on how the clinic lacks policies regarding medical abortion, a governing body to determine policies and a registry of all patients seeking services.

Dr. Ulrich Klopfer owns and provides abortions at the Women's Pavilion. He is currently under investigation by Indiana authorities. He has a clinic in Fort Wayne and and surrendered his license for a facility in Gary.

Klopfer has claimed anti-abortion employees at the department are trying to revoke the clinic's license to provide the procedure.

The state previously issued a complaint against the South Bend clinic in February after it failed to address 27 deficiencies identified in an October inspection.
