Ivy Tech Possibility for Ellspermann Could Affect Pence bid

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Gov. Mike Pence has enthusiastically endorsed the prospect of Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann possibly becoming president of the state's embattled Ivy Tech Community College system.

He says Ellspermann is an “ideal” candidate to fix the school system's problems.

School officials say they want to hire a new president sometime between June and August. If Ellspermann is offered and accepts the job, she would have to step down as lieutenant governor.

That would shake-up Pence's re-election effort, requiring the Republican to find a new running mate to join him on the November ticket.
