Kendallville Officer Involved in Rural Corunna Shooting ID’ed

CORUNNA, Ind. (WOWO): Kendallville Police have identified the officer that was involved in a shooting in rural Corunna. 

Sergeant Michael McCann was checking on a neighboring home while off-duty Tuesday night. The department says that he discovered a burglary in progress. 

When he approached the vehicle, 21 year old Tyler Gaiski fired shots at McCann before speeding off. His car wrecked nearby and he was apprehended in a cornfield. 

McCann is a 14 year police veteran and is on required paid administrative leave as the investigation continues.
