Fort Wayne fire closes parts of Wells Street

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): No one was hurt in a fire that closed parts of Wells Street on Friday morning.

At about 7:30 a.m. Friday, crews were called to Wells Street Variety Store on the corner of Wells Street and Archer Avenue on reports of a fire.

When the Fort Wayne Fire Department arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming from the roof of the store. A fire was found above the ceiling in the second floor above the store. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 20 mintues.

Wells Street is currently closed between State and Spring Street while crews clean up the area.

The fire is under investigation.
