Winter weather could destroy electronics

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Northern Indiana has a wave of cold weather coming its way and you don’t want to keep your electronics out in your car.

“Most of the electronic devices today have LED or LCD screens, and when they freeze, they get real thick,” Director of IT at Federated Media Darrin Sweet said. “So, when you go to power them back on, if they aren’t at room temperature, they will just shatter.”

If you do leave an electronic out in the cold, have it sit inside for a couple hours and have it acclimate back to room temperature before you power it back on.

Even if the screen doesn’t shatter, cold can destroy batteries too.
