Memorial Coliseum Board approves “Bob Chase Way”

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Another honor for a WOWO Radio legend.

Bob Chase spent 63 years broadcasting for WOWO, including covering the Fort Wayne Komets for all of those years. He passed away last November at the age of 91, but will now be memorialized at the place where he spent so much time cheering and reporting on the hockey team.

The Allen County War Memorial Coliseum Board of Trustees has voted to rename the road and circle drive near the box office “Bob Chase Way.” Coliseum General Manager Randy Brown told the Journal Gazette Chase was a “real friend” to the building.

The signs will still need approval from the Allen County Council of Veterans.

Chase also received a Sagamore of the Wabash and a Mad Anthony’s Red Coat during his career. Hundreds attended his memorial service last year.

WOWO released a tribute special dedicated to Chase shortly after his death. You can find it here.
