Accident Leads to Death of Fireman

An accident late last night has taken the life of a Washington Township firefighter.  The fireman was rushing to a brush fire on Butler Road. When he turned from Hillegas onto Butler, the truck flipped onto its side and took out three light poles in the process.  About 300 people were without power for several hours last night, but the lights are now back on.  The early indication is the water in the tanker truck shifted as he was making the turn and caused the truck to flip onto its side. He was trapped inside for a time because the power lines that came down onto the truck were hot and they had to wait for the power company to cut it off before rescue crews moved in.
