AG Zoeller Warns Against Flood Repair Scammers

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Attorney General Greg Zoeller is warning residents hit by flood damage to watch for scam artists.

Zoeller said Monday fraudulent contractors will often come into heavily damaged areas and attempt to scam homeowners. Heavy rainfall during the past weekend caused significant flooding around the state.

Zoeller warned that scammers may try to argue repairs should be made quickly before winter sets in. He recommends homeowners get written contracts before approving any work, never pay more than a third of the project cost up front and keep documentation of all work.
