Bacterial Meningitis Found at St. Joseph Central Elementary School

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Bacterial meningitis has been found at a Fort Wayne school.

Fort Wayne Community Schools sent home a letter to parents Monday saying that someone at St. Joseph Central Elementary School came down with a case of bacterial meningitis. Officials say the case is under medical supervision and that the disease is no longer present at the school.

Antibiotics were given to students, staff, and faculty at the school by health officials. A clinic will be held at St. Joseph this afternoon from 2 until 6 p.m. to let parents pick up their kid's medication. You're asked to enter Door 7. If you can't make it, contact the school nurse at 260-467-6105 to make other arrangements.

Parents are asked to keep an eye on their child for symptoms, including sudden fever, headache, stiff neck, confusion, and sometimes a rash.
