Bartholomew County Quadruple Homicide

NETWORK INDIANA_The Bartholomew County Sheriff‘s Office is investigating what it is calling a quadruple homicide that took place before 11:00 p.m. Saturday at a home located at 2634 East Main Cross Street in Waynesville.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Mark Gorbett says the county‘s 911 center got a call around 10:39 p.m. saying he just returned home from work and discovered at least two people in the living who appeared to have blood on them and dead. Gorbett says the caller told the dispatcher he lived at the home with his mother and stepfather. Dispatchers had the caller leave the home until officers could arrive.

At 10:51 p.m., sheriff‘s deputies along with Indiana State Police troopers arrived at the scene and conducted a protective sweep of the residence and to check on the people in the living room. Officers saw inside the home four people who all appeared dead. The officers at that point left and secured the scene for investigators to obtain a search warrant.

The Bartholomew County Death Investigative Team was then activated. Once the search warrant was obtained, Gorbett says crime scene techs entered the home and found three men in the living room and a woman in the bedroom. They all apparently died from gunshot wounds. Names of the victims are not being released at this time and no one is in custody. Gorbett says the investigation continues.
