Bauer named president of IU Health Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Brian Bauer has been named president of Indiana University Health Fort Wayne.

Bauer has worked as a consultant since IU Health Fort Wayne started in 2017.

“Brian is a natural fit to lead IU Health in Fort Wayne,” said Ron Stiver, president of IU Health’s System Clinical Services. ”He has a great deal of experience in healthcare leadership, and is deeply committed to ensuring the residents of Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana have access to high quality, personalized care.”

Before that, Bauer and local doctors led an unsuccessful bid to buy Lutheran Health Network from parent company Community Health Systems while CEO of of LHN in 2017.

CHS eventually sued Bauer and five others. That lawsuit was settled last November.

Bauer has also served as a CEO for Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

He began in his new role at IU Health Fort Wayne on Jan. 1.
