City Pushing to Host Indiana GOP Convention

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The push for a statewide Republican convention in Fort Wayne is gaining steam. The city has already drawn the favor of the governor and other state lawmakers, but its not official.

The decision for the 2014 GOP convention is expected to come in August. The local Republican party has been working at raising money to help lure the event to town.

It's an event that could pump about $300,000 into and bring about 2,500 delegates to Fort Wayne. Local officials say its a great chance to show off the city. State Democrats held their convention in Fort Wayne last year.
