City to Demolish Franklin School

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Plans are in the works to demolish Fort Wayne's historic Franklin School.

The city will soon accept bids to remove the school on St. Mary's. According to a report in the News-Sentinel, the area will be converted to a park. That park could include a splash pad and pavilion.

The 93-year old building housed the police academy and Marine Reserve Center after closing as a school in 1981.

City officials say preserving the building isn't realistic.
