Columbia City Police Department Urges Hoosiers: Keep Your Eyes on the Road

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (WOWO) – April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is leading a nationwide effort to curb distracted driving.

Devon McDonald, Executive Director of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute,  says “Distractions behind the wheel can have devastating consequences,” and is urging “all motorists to focus on the road and avoid any activity that takes their attention away from driving safely.”

Law enforcement all over the country are working together to enforce texting and distracted-driving laws and reminding people to put aside any distractions while driving on the road.

Chief Parrett of the Columbia City Police Department said “People know using their phone while driving is dangerous and often illegal, but they do it anyway, and put themselves and others at risk.”   He said drivers will see an increase in law enforcement presence, specifically targeting texting and driving violations. In Indiana, violating Indiana’s hands-free law could result in a Class C infraction, carrying fines of up to $500 and license points.

The message is clear: cell phone use while driving is not only dangerous but illegal. Drivers are urged to prioritize safety and refrain from distractions behind the wheel. For more information, visit NHTSA’s distracted driving campaign page.

don’t know why they are worried about it they will find any reason or make one up to pull you over rip apart your car and find nothing. leave your things thrown all over and tell you they will just give you a verbal warning for less than 4 over the posted speed limit. they should all be arrested and made to do a year in Afghanistan so they can know the true meaning of serve and protect.

Many law enforcement agencies, especially those controlled by Marxicrats are increasingly displaying Gestapo, Brown Shirt, and Stasi Tactics preparing us for the big takeover by Commies!
