FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A favorite at the zoo will be closed for construction.
The Australian Adventure in the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo has put up signs that they'll be closed for the rest of the season. They'll begin the third phase of a $7 million dollar renovation.
Zoo spokeswoman Cheryl Piropato tells the Journal Gazette they usually reserve construction for the off-season, but in this case they couldn't wait until November.
After the construction, the area will feature a special exhibit for several endangered Tasmanian devils, and a new Australian attraction, tentatively titled Crocodile Creek, a waterway in which kids can play in shallow water.
